Most chapters which appeared in the Second Edition have been revised. New chapters concern themselves chiefly with aspects of air quality management such as data handling, emission inventory, mathematical modeling, and control strategy analysis; global pollution and its monitoring; and more detailed attention to pollution from automobiles and incinerators.
Volume V deals with laws, regulations, and standards pertaining to air pollution; the strategies, procedures, and organization forms for administering them; and the energy and economic ramifications of air pollution controls.SOMMAIRE:LOCAL,STATE,AND REGIONAL-LAND USE AND TRANSPORTATION PLANNING-EPISODE CONTROL PLANNING-ORGANISATION AND OPERATION OF AIR POLLUTION CONTROL AGENCIES-PUBLIC INFORMATION AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES-AIR POLLUTION SURVEYS-NATIONAL AND WOLD WIDE-AIR POLLUTION LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS-ORGANIZATION AND OPERATION OF NATIONAL AIR POLLUTION CONTROL PROGRAMS-MANPOWER DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING-AIR QUALITY STANDARDS-EMISSION STANDARDS FOR MOBILE SOURCES-EMISSION STANDARDS FOR STATIONARY SOURCESNote de contenu : index Air POLLUTION VOLUME V AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT [texte imprimé] / Arthur C. This book provides the numerical applications that illustrate the treatment of laboratory data.
Organized into eight chapters, this edition begins with an overview of the engineering design of process plants for treatment of wastewaters of industrial or domestic origin. This text then examines the various empirical methods for evaluation of concentration of contaminants in wastewaters. Other chapters consider the various types of primary treatment of wastewater, including sedimentation, screening, flotation, and neutralization and equalization. This book discusses as well the stationary film theory applied to the case of oxygen transfer. The final chapter deals with tertiary or advanced wastewater treatment, which consists of processes designed to achieve higher effluent quality than conventional secondary treatment.
This book is a valuable resource for practicing engineers and students who are interested in the field of wastewater treatment.SOMMAIRE:CHARACTERZATION OF DOMESTIC AND INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATERS-PRETREATMENT AND PRIMARY TREATMENT-THEORY AND PRACTICE OF AERATION IN WASTEWATER TREATMENT-SECANDARY TREATMENT:THE ACTIVATED SLUDGE PROCESS-SECONDARY TREATMENT:OTHER AEROBIC AND ANAEROBIC WASTEWATER TREAMENT PROCESSES-SLUDGE TREATMENT AND DISPOSAL-TERTIARY TREATMENT OF WASTEWATERS-Note de contenu : index Introduction to wastewater treatment processes [texte imprimé] / Rubens Sette Ramalho, Auteur . - 2e éd. . - New York : Academic Press, 1983, cop. 1983 . - 1 vol.
