Therefore, changes in the material usage can have major implications on polymer demand and the financial performance of polymer producers. The book contains up-to-date information for field experts around the globe on the introduction and application of modern materials in the automotive industry. The automotive composite materials are used in various automotive components such as bumpers, seating, dashboards, internal and external trims. The careful selection of these automotive materials enables designers to improve durability, meet load-bearing requirements, and achieve reduction in vehicle weight. Therefore, research and development into lightweight materials is essential for lowering their cost, increasing their ability to be recycled, enabling their integration into vehicles, and maximizing their fuel economy benefits. Light weighting without loss of strength and speed properties is the present, and the future, of the automotive manufacturing industry. It brings innovative materials to the frontline of design. The book discusses the future utilization of materials as evident from trends, opportunities arising from developments in materials technology, and also the possible effect of legislation.
Wilson Wagner is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He has published numerous research papers and articles on fluid dynamics, finite volume method, and fluid hydrodynamics. His expertise includes fluid dynamics and fluid hydrodynamics. He is author and co-author of more than 30 works in national and international journals, conference proceedings and book chapters.
