This book gathers perspectives, applications, and developments in the extensively researched fields of chemical kinetics and catalysis. Catalysis is a key component of modern industry advancements ranging from production to energy and environmental sustainability, and chemical kinetics offers important information about a reaction. In addition to discussing redox processes, kinetics, and density functional theory, this book bridges the gap between the worlds of enzymes and electric fields and focuses on the shortcomings of transition state theory (TST).
One of the earliest areas of physicals chemistry is chemical kinetics,whose study is inextricably linked to comprehending processes and determining specific rate constants for ditinct mechanistic phases.The advancement of theoretical kinetics encompasses not only the determination of individual steps but also the computation of particular rate constants.Notable contributions include the transition state theory(TST)for pressure-independent thermal rate constants.thus,dynamics,mechanism,and electronic structure are all intrinsically linked to the study of kinetics ;this book covers all three.Over the past eight decades,synergistic advances in homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis principles,techniques,and applications have helped establish the current standards for fuels,polymers,fertilizers,and pollution abate-ment.The development of experimental,techniques and quantitative rate descriptions in the early stages of catalysis laid the groundwork for its exceptional performance.
