Issues in morphosyntax / Peter Ackema
Titre : Issues in morphosyntax Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Peter Ackema, Auteur Editeur : Amsterdam ; Philadelphia : John Benjamins Publishing Année de publication : 1999 Collection : Linguistik aktuell num. ISSN 0166-0829 ; 26 Importance : (vii-313 p.) Présentation : ill. Format : 23 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-90-272-2747-8 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Grammar, Comparative and general Morphosyntax Syntactic categories. Résumé : Of particular interest to morphologists and syntacticians Issues in Morphosyntax aims to contribute to the discussion on the question whether there exists a separate morphological module in the grammar, distinct from the other modules, with special focus on the connection of morphology with syntax. The view that is defended is that morphological operations do not take place in syntax, but that they are governed by the same principles that govern syntax. There are morphological categories distinct from syntactic categories, which appear in their own domain, below the zero X-bar level, so in this sense there is a morphological module. However, this module is not distinct from the syntactic one, in the sense that the same principles apply equally to the morphological and the syntactic domain. Specific topics of discussion include Noun Incorporation, past participle constructions in Germanic (passives, perfects, and auxiliary selection) and Lexical Integrity effects. Note de contenu :

Titre : Shona phonology and morphosyntax : a grammatical sketch Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Kumbirai Mkanganwi Editeur : Saarbrücken : Lambert Academic Publishing Année de publication : 2011 Importance : 144 p. Présentation : couv. ill. Format : 22 cm Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Shona language Phonology Morphosyntax Grammar. Résumé : The inexorable march of theoretical linguistics has tended to downplay the importance of description of linguistic data or corpus. The atomic view of the phoneme and the morpheme as segments facilitates description of structures of individual languages. Compare us with portrait artists who look closely at their subjects' faces and begin by sketching out features before filling in the details. The scope of this sketch means that there is no room for much detail, but sufficient grammatical features to identify the language's structure. We believe that description should always come before theory. We have been intrigued by young linguists introducing presentations of their papers at conferences with phrases like ?my theory is...? and proceed to focus on recalcitrant data. Résumé : This volume is a collection of studies in generative (morpho)syntax and phonology, which grew out of the 6th Generative Phonology in Poland (GLiP) meeting that took place at the University of Warsaw in the spring of 2008. The sixteen papers, written by the leading scholars in linguistics as well as young researchers, give a representative flavour of investigations across (morpho)syntax and phonology from the current generative perspective.
Drawing on recent advances in formal linguistics, the majority of studies in this volume test the applicability of available theoretical frameworks to selected bodies of data. Some papers discuss the adequacy of competing theoretical solutions in the light of new experimental results.Generatve investigations : syntax, morphology, and phonology [texte imprimé] / Piotr Bańsk, Auteur . - [S.l.] : Newcastle upon Tyne, UK : Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2011 . - (XI-345 p.) : ill. ; 22 cm.

Contient une sélection de communications d'un congrès tenu à Manchester les 3 et 4 avril 2009Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Grammar, Comparative and General Possessives Morphosyntax Congress proceedings. Résumé : The analysis of constructions denoting possession (particularly, but not exclusively, in English) has long presented a challenge to morpho-syntactic theory and has been a topic of debate for some time. The papers presented here afford thought-provoking insights into the morphosyntactic nature of possessive markers under a variety of theoretical frameworks. The distribution of phrases expressing possession is explored in a range of languages (including English, Swedish, Urdu and West Flemish), with rigorous exploitation of corpus data and careful statistical analysis. Descriptions and analyses represent the state of the art in research into possessive constructions. Particular attention is paid to the English possessive ’s, both synchronically and diachronically. This volume is essential for scholars interested in theoretical and corpus-based linguistics, morphosyntactic constructions, and the expression of possession. Note de contenu :
