Titre : Handbook of generative approaches to language acquisition Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Jill de Villiers, Auteur Année de publication : 2011 Importance : (vii-403 p.) Présentation : ill. Format : 25 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-94-007-1687-2 Note générale : Handbook of Generative Approaches to Language Acquisition / edited by Jill de Villiers, Tom Roeper.. - Dordrecht : Springer Netherlands : Springer e-books, 2011. - (Studies in Theoretical Psycholinguistics). - ISBN 978-94-007-1688-9 Langues : Français (fre) Mots-clés : Language acquisition Generative grammar Language Acquisition. Résumé : Modern linguistic theory has been based on the promise of explaining how language acquisition can occur so rapidly with such subtlety, and with both surprising uniformity and diversity across languages. This handbook provides a summary and assessment of how far that promise has been fulfilled, exploring core concepts in acquisition theory, including notions of the initial state, parameters, triggering theory, the role of competition and frequency, and many others, across a variety of syntactic topics that have formed the central domains of investigation and debate. These topics are treated from the unique perspective of central actors in each domain who have helped shape the research agenda. The authors have presented a summary of the data, the theories under discussion, and their own best assessments of where each domain stands. Providing as well the agenda for future work in the field showing both particular needs and general directions that should be pursued in the coming decades. Note de contenu :

Résumé : This volume is a collection of studies in generative (morpho)syntax and phonology, which grew out of the 6th Generative Phonology in Poland (GLiP) meeting that took place at the University of Warsaw in the spring of 2008. The sixteen papers, written by the leading scholars in linguistics as well as young researchers, give a representative flavour of investigations across (morpho)syntax and phonology from the current generative perspective.
Drawing on recent advances in formal linguistics, the majority of studies in this volume test the applicability of available theoretical frameworks to selected bodies of data. Some papers discuss the adequacy of competing theoretical solutions in the light of new experimental results.Generatve investigations : syntax, morphology, and phonology [texte imprimé] / Piotr Bańsk, Auteur . - [S.l.] : Newcastle upon Tyne, UK : Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2011 . - (XI-345 p.) : ill. ; 22 cm.

Titre : Morphosyntactic change : functional and formal perspectives Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Olga Fischer, Auteur Editeur : Oxford : Oxford University Press Année de publication : 2007 Collection : Oxford surveys in syntax and morphology. - Oxford : Oxford University Press, 2005- ; 2 Importance : (XVIII-378 p.) Présentation : couv. ill. Format : 2007 ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-19-926705-7 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Linguistic change Generative grammar Historical morphosyntax. Résumé : This book presents a critical comparison of the two leading theories of linguistic change. After introducing the aims and methods of historical linguistics, Olga Fischer provides an exposition of the main theories used to describe morphosyntactic change and a full account of the causes and mechanisms by which their leading exponents seek to explain it. She measures the effectiveness of rival theories and methods in different contexts and in the process throws fresh light on the balance of factors influencing linguistic change. Professor Fischer emphazises the unity of form and meaning in the linguistic sign and examines the role played by analogy. She looks at how changes in discourse, lexicon, semantics, pragmatics, and sound interact with changes in morphosyntax, and explores the relationship between external and internal causes of change.
