Tense and aspect / Alessandra Giorgi
Titre : Tense and aspect : from semantics to morphosyntax Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Alessandra Giorgi, Auteur ; Fabio Pianesi, Auteur Editeur : New York : Oxford University Press Année de publication : 1997 Collection : Oxford studies in comparative syntax Importance : (XV-319 p.) Format : 24 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-19-509192-2 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Grammar, Comparative and general Tense Aspect Semantics Syntaxe. Résumé : This book examines the interactions between the morphosyntax and the semantic interpretation of tense and aspectual forms in the Germanic and Romance languages. These languages diverge not only in their variety of tense and aspectual forms, but also in the distribution and interpretation of given forms. Adopting Noam Chomsky's minimalist framework, AG and FP attempt to provide theoretical explanations for the observed patterns of form and meaning which link the morphosyntactic properties of languages in both universal and language-particular constraints on interpretation. Titre : The Architecture of Determiners Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Thomas Leu, Auteur Editeur : New York : Oxford University Press Année de publication : 2015 Collection : Oxford studies in comparative syntax Importance : (xiv-240 p.) Format : 24 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-19-994525-2 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Grammar, comparative and generale Determiners Architecture morphology. Résumé : Work in morphology is typically concerned with productive word formation and regular inflection, in any event with open class categories such as verbs, nouns, and adjectives, and their various forms. The Architecture of Determiners, by contrast, is devoted to a set of function words: the closed class of determiners. While it is traditionally assumed that function words are syntactically atomic, Thomas Leu shows that a comparative perspective on a series of determiners - each insistently vivisected into its minimal morphotactic segments - reveals an anatomy with properties analogous to clausal syntax, including a lexical, an inflectional, and left peripheral layer, as well as transformational relations among subconstituents. Leu argues that determiners are extended adjectival projections with a closed class minimal stem. Note de contenu : Références; Index.
