The aim of this work is twofold: to help all those who use the English language to better motivate the choice of the central element of the sentence that constitutes the verb (do we indeed often have the opportunity to use without verb?); show that this choice depends largely on the elements placed to its left (subject) and to its right (object). It is therefore the articulation of the verb in the sentence that is at stake here. Knowing a list of verbal expressions or English verbs is not enough to be sure of translating or writing well; it is still necessary to ensure their good integration into the sentence: thus a satisfactory translation of design in the following three sentences: I see things differently, they have designed a new product, I find it difficult to conceive that we cannot never being on time depends more on a good understanding of these statements in French than on knowing a high-level vocabulary. |
