Résumé : |
These editions are designed especially for students of English as a second language. The full text of each play is accompanied by notes that have been written within a controlled vocabulary of 3, 000 words and with the requirements of the Cambridge Overseas School Certificate and similar examinations in mind.
Each volume contains an introduction with full notes on the characters in the play, a note on the language of the play covering metaphor, simile and imagery, and a note on the dramatic construction of the play. Then follows the play with the detailed notes set immediately facing the text to which they refer. Both linguistic and textual difficulties are covered and there is a general note on each scene. There is a full glossary of words in the play outside the 3, 000-word vocabulary and an appendix giving hints on the answering of examination context and essay questions. Attractive line drawings which are based on contemporary sources and which assist in explaining difficulties in the text, are included in each volume. |
