Résumé :	Thi study is concerned with the sytax and semantics of adjectives in english in relation to certain problems encountered by iraqi third-year college students in their learning certain syntactic and semantic features of adjecties. the study includes two side : theoretical and practical . the theoretical side is dedicated to server as basis for a general discussion of the nature of the constructions and concepts which form some of the problems encountered by iraqi learners of english. the practical part is an attempt to analyze the errors made by iraqi students in the use of the english adjectives. it presents the categories in which these errors most frequently occur , and pinpoints the causes behind their occurrence.
